The international call for entries for the 7th Goldreed Industrial Design Award has reached a significant partnership milestone. As an official partner, the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Design Alliance supported international outreach and project connection, helping bring together 616 entries from more than 50 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, South Korea and Japan.

International outreach as long-term design infrastructure

Beyond communicating a call for entries, SFCDA connected independent studios, enterprises, universities, design teams and creative communities across different markets. Multilingual communication, direct project contact and practical submission support reduced participation barriers and brought a wider range of cultural perspectives, technologies and market contexts into the award.

Selected projects from the international call

From the United Kingdom, London design and innovation studio Morrama submitted Kibu Headphones. Designed for children, the modular headphones use a minimal number of parts and support assembly, repair, customization and material recycling, demonstrating how circular thinking can become an understandable product experience.

The value of international works: from entry volume to lasting collaboration

The value of the 616 entries lies not only in their scale, but also in the breadth of perspectives they bring together. Works shaped by different cultures, industries, technologies and social contexts create opportunities for mutual understanding and expand two-way connections between Chinese design platforms and global creative networks.

For SFCDA, an international call for entries is not a one-off collection exercise, but a starting point for long-term collaboration. The alliance will continue linking participating projects with design awards, overseas studios, education, industry and international communication channels. Through editorial features, professional exchange and cross-border institutional and business connections, projects can reach wider professional audiences and explore opportunities for validation, partnership and implementation in different markets. The resulting project archive, designer network and partner relationships will become lasting resources for cross-regional collaboration, talent exchange and industry innovation.
